Since the return from the February holidays, Nathalie (Une Note d'éveil) and Angélique (Les Graines de Lumières) have been introducing children to the joys of African music and philosophy during a weekly workshop.
A look back at the first workshops…
Forward the music
After a welcome music at the Ukulele, Nathalie presents an instrument to the children. During the first workshop, it was the Balafon, an instrument from Mali. This instrument is a kind of xylophone. It is made of wood, it is hit with chopsticks, and the sound of the Balafon is amplified by gourds arranged underneath. After discovering these sounds, Nathalie invites children to try the instrument, as well as other percussion instruments. After a few minutes of rhythms and music, the workshop ends with a small song.

Philosophons… what is happiness?
After a statement of the rules of operation of the workshop, Angélique reads a story on the theme of happiness. On their small notebook specially dedicated to this workshop, children can write or draw what this theme inspires them. After a few minutes, everyone takes the floor and follows a discussion, guided at times by the questions cleverly asked by Angélique. The workshop ends with a small group conclusion.
