The pink tower is the most emblematic material of the Montessori method. However, its assets remain unknown despite all its variations.
Presentation
To continue on the presentation of the material, I present the emblematic pink tower. A true symbol of Montessori pedagogy, the pink tower allows you to understand the following notions:
- Volumes
- Weight
- The notion of space
- Coordination
- Preparation for mathematics (decimal system)
- Motor skills
- The language of comparison: Large – Small
- Gradation
It is presented and worked from an early age. As always the hardware is self-patching. Therefore, children are autonomous to rectify their mistakes.
Technical side
For the technical side, we have here a wooden tower (beech) painted in pale pink on a wooden base. So we have a superposition of 10 cubes ranging from 10cm3 to 1cm3. We work this activity usually on the ground on a carpet that we make available in the atmosphere. As always this material is accompanied by a preliminary presentation made by our educator.
