Playing in the mud

Playing in the mud? what a crazy idea! On Monday afternoon, we had decided with the children to stretch our legs at the rugby field next to the school, to enjoy the warmth of the sun. We obviously did not take into account that the land was going to be waterlogged, and therefore that the mud would be at the rendezvous. Have we turned back? well, no. What a wonderful sensory experience for children to throw themselves into the mud, to roll in it, to laugh out loud, to create bonds with some children who were until now rather excluded from the group. We had a hard time convincing them to find their way back to school after 1h30 of muddy splashing. So it's dirty, covered in mud but nevertheless happy that we went back to school to clean ourselves, change and enjoy the remaining time to enjoy this experience…

Language learning

This is a question that comes up often when we meet with families for registrations. How is language learning done in our school? English, Spanish, French Sign Language - LSF, a whole program! English What is a bilingual school? First of all, we need to clarify one point. For the moment we are not what can be called a bilingual school, like many other Montessori schools. A bilingual school means that there is in the atmosphere or the class, a person who speaks all the time in a language other than French, often English. The advantage of having a person who constantly speaks in a foreign language in the mood is that children get used to hearing that language. This does not make small English speakers in a few months. Children who are bilingual at 3 or 4 years old have grown up hearing 2 or 3 languages in their…

Material Manufacturing

As we had explained several times on our Facebook page, we manufacture most of our equipment. It's a lot of personal investment, but it's always a great pleasure to see the result. But why did we decide to try to make our equipment rather than buy it already finished? Woodworking Yes, we like to work with wood. It is a natural material, which smells good. Gluing, waxing, painting, varnishing have therefore become our daily lives. bee puzzle Made in France I admit that opening a package that smells of chemical treatment does not enchant me. And above all, we prefer to work French craftsmen than shops that simply buy in bulk and resell 4 or 5 times more expensive than the initial price, without even worrying about where the product comes from or even its quality. The main shops where we buy our equipment are therefore 123 Montessori and wood…

Fear of ghosts

Some time ago, the children of the school suddenly became very afraid of ghosts. Some laughed at it, but others were genuinely terrified. We tried several methods to get them to talk about their fear, but it was rather unsuccessful. Then one day, T. (3 and a half years old) asked me "Laetitia, can you help me draw the house of ghosts please?", to which I replied "with great pleasure!". With all the children, I sat down at the table where we do our art activities, and I asked him to describe to me precisely what he wanted me to draw. Good guy... First of all, a house, consisting of a square and a triangle for the roof. Then the windows, and a door in the shape of a triangle. I proposed to add a handle to be able to open the door. Then, T. asked me to draw a…
