Some time ago, the children of the school suddenly became very afraid of ghosts. Some laughed at it, but others were genuinely terrified. We tried several methods to get them to talk about their fear, but it was rather unsuccessful.
Then one day, T. (3 and a half years old) asked me "Laetitia, can you help me draw the house of ghosts please?", to which I replied "with great pleasure!".
With all the children, I sat down at the table where we do our art activities, and I asked him to describe to me precisely what he wanted me to draw.
Good guy…
First of all, a house, consisting of a square and a triangle for the roof. Then the windows, and a door in the shape of a triangle. I proposed to add a handle to be able to open the door. Then, T. asked me to draw a nice ghost. "Nice? so he's pretty happy?" Initially, the ghosts I drew had only eyes and a mouth. Then he asked me to draw a wicked ghost. "Wicked? you mean an angry ghost?" and then a ghost that scares by doing Ohhhhhh…
Final details
He then asked me to add ghosts to the windows, it was he who chose their expressions. I proposed to add arms and hair. I used the shape of the hair to justify the emotional state of these ghosts. The hair in brush for the one who is happy, the wavy hair style pin'up for the one who makes Ohhh and the hair in corkscrew for the angry one, specifying that I understood why he was angry, I would also be if my hair was corkscrew on my head! The children laughed at that moment. I proposed to add a fireplace to this house, so that the ghosts would not be cold. And the children asked me to create a decor around this house, grass, flowers, an apple tree, an access road. And finally, we added the moon and some stars.
Here is the result:

House of Ghosts
Since that day, the ghosts have disappeared, and the children have found the smile again!!
