I will tell you about the birth of the project and the school. My name is Laetitia, 34 years old, I am married to Eric, 35 years old, both computer engineers. We are parents of two little boys, Esteban 4 years old and Tristan 10 months old. We met in high school, so we walked together and evolved on our way of seeing the world. At the birth of our son Esteban, we had a second birth, that of reason. We chose to live according to our instincts, and let our son evolve at his own pace, without ever forcing him or comparing him to other children. We have never been so in harmony in our little family.

Very quickly I made the choice to stop working to take care of our son. Through our readings and meetings with other young parents, we have discovered that what we do has a name. These names are mothering, benevolence, self-confidence, respect for the child as an individual, free motor skills, child autonomy, non-violent communication and Montessori.

Our entire acquis has been called into question.

Why are we what we are? Who do we want to be? Are we happy? What do we want for our son? And the time has come to question our school career as well. What did we love or hate during our long years in school? What if we had learned otherwise? This path led us initially to Family Instruction, and autonomous learning.

I then embarked on a training to discover the Montessori pedagogy and to apply it in our home. Following the first level, after thinking for several weeks on the subject, we told ourselves that we could not keep our way of seeing education for ourselves, for our child. That we should give other children the opportunity to enjoy independent learning and this wonderful pedagogy.

Why did Montessori pedagogy seem to us the most adapted to our way of seeing education?

  • freedom for the child within a defined framework
  • compliance with the rules implicitly established by the atmosphere of the class
  • respect for the rhythm of the child in his learning
  • the acquisition of autonomy, the child becomes an actor in his education
  • scientific material and allowing a self-correction of the child
  • mutual aid and motivation through mixed age groups
  • and many other reasons that we hope to be able to share with the children and parents who will adhere to our project.

And that's it: the school project was born. So we launched our market research and we started looking for a local with exterior around Montpellier. It was no small feat, but our perseverance paid off. After three years of hard work, our project is no longer one.

The school we dreamed of will open its doors on October 1, 2018.
